It’s the heart of who we are at Immanuel.
Our Service Learning and Leadership programs, nurture character and values in young people in order for them to make a difference, whether that be in a household, community, region, across the nation or around the world.
Service Learning
Our motto, Plus Ultra – Forever Higher, encourages students to see their responsibility in the world. Our Service Learning program invites students to have a heart for service. As part of this, we work closely with a wide range of community based organisations and charities.
Years 7 & 8: Seeing a Need – Exploring issues of poverty and injustice, growing an awareness of the causes, challenging a response that is resourceful in order to make a difference.
Years 9 & 10: Service in Action – Developing a heart for service that is responsible for taking action for a cause and becoming an advocate.
Years 11 & 12: Leadership as Service – Leading to make a difference on local, national and international issues.
Beyond Immanuel: Being a Voice – Celebrating a life of gratitude and hope, courageously making a difference in and for the world.
Leadership
Principal Kevin Richardson has a passion for developing leadership skills in young people. He leads by example, and designs and runs a leadership camp each year for our large number of students in official leadership positions.
There are a wide variety of formal leadership opportunities for students. These include Student and Boarder Representative Councils, House Leaders, Student Committees such as Environment and Technology to name a few.
However, leadership is about more that having a badge and a title. Leadership is a culture; people putting their hand up to make a difference or extending their hand to welcome. Therefore, we nurture our students at Immanuel to lead from wherever they are.
