ANZAC Day 2018 - Lest We Forget

We are immensely proud to have had over 50 students attend & lay wreaths at ANZAC Day services around South Australia in both metropolitan Adelaide and regional areas to honour and pay respect to our war veterans and those currently serving our country. It was a particularly special morning for our Year 9 students who attended the service at the RSL War Veterans Home where their sculpture that has been 12 months in the making ‘Coming Home’ was unveiled. Lest We Forget.

Farewell to our Bethany pilgrims

Farewell to our Bethany pilgrims as they head to Malaysia today to work in Bethany Home. Bethany Home is a school for people with disabilities that Immanuel has had a relationship with for 13 years. They will spend 2 weeks living in the school and providing help and support for both the staff and the students. They have raised over $15,000 for Bethany this year to help them continue to do the amazing work that they do - thank you to our community for their support. We wish them all the best & pray that they will be a blessing to the Bethany community.

Swimming championships success

Exciting night poolside for Immanuel last night at the State School Team's Championships. All of our swimmers did us proud, with Immanuel taking out the winner's shield in the Year 7/8 Girls (joint winner with Trinity), Year 11/12 Boys, Year 11/12 Girls and the Girls overall won the Girls Combined Shield. In fact all of our teams placed strongly in the final results. Congratulations to all on a superb night of swimming!

Opening Service 2018

The school year officially started today at our Opening Service where the entire school came together to welcome all students and staff for 2018. A beautiful address was delivered by Pastor Dennis Obst about the importance of sharing the gifts that we are given with others and to appreciate all that life has to offer. It was also an opportunity to install our new staff members as well as to induct our 2018 Prefects, Student Representative Council, Boarder Representative Council, House Captains, Middle School Captains, Indigenous Council Chair and Music Captains and to recognise our high achieving Year 12's from 2017 as well as congratulating our Dux of 2017, Samantha Edwards who shared some words of wisdom with our students.

Today we welcomed our Year 8 and 12 students, tomorrow our Year 7, 9 and 10 students arrive and then the Year 11 students on Thursday. We wish everyone in the Immanuel community a fantastic 2018!

A Service of Lessons & Carols

Our traditional Service of Lessons & Carols was held on Sunday and Monday this week. It featured over 100 Old Scholars, students & staff. It is a beautiful and special way to herald the Christmas season. We would like to wish everyone a joyous and safe Christmas.

Announcing our Middle School Redevelopment

We are excited to announce plans for the redevelopment of our Middle School. We have worked with the award-winning design architects responsible for the unique Tonsley redevelopment on this project. A new outdoor learning and social environment in the Mall area is a key feature. In many ways it will reflect the success of our new Senior School, the Margaret Ames Centre but developed with the younger Middle School age group in mind. The first stage of the work will be undertaken over the summer holidays. Watch out for future updates.

Anna Meares OAM headlines Sports Celebration

What an honour to have Anna Meares OAM as guest speaker at our Open A Sports Celebration last night. As an Olympic & World Champion cyclist, Anna shared some of the keys to her success, with a focus on resilience and mental strength. She encouraged our athletes to surround themselves with positive people and to focus on 'what is' rather than 'what if'. Anna is now involved in leading the fight against Motor Neurone Disease through Cycling Cares - A Fight MND Campaign. Congratulations to Year 12 students Jack and Apple for taking out two of the top awards last night for outstanding contribution across multiple sports. And thank you to all our students on their achievements and dedication to sport this year, as well as to their parents & carers for supporting them.

Farewell Year 12 - Class of 2017

This week we farewel our Year 12s and we wish them every success in the coming weeks for final exams and moderation, as well as for the months & years ahead as they start the next chapter of their lives. The Year 12 Valedictory Service was a special highlight where we honoured all of our graduating students and presented academic & service awards. Old Scholar Ken Lechleitner (1985) delivered an emotional Valedictory address where he conveyed his passionate belief of the importance of mutual respect and acceptance in race relations in Australia in shaping a positive shared future for all. Class of 2017 - we will miss you! Immanuel. Plus Ultra
