Year 12 Ilya receives Governor’s Citizenship Award

Congratulation to Ilya who received his citizenship commendation award from Her Excellency the Governor of South Australia at Government House on Monday November 14.

Ilya’s strong ethical beliefs and commitment to active citizenship are impressive.  Ilya’s passion for advocacy leads him to activities such as debating and Model United Nations.Ilya has taken on several leadership roles at Immanuel College including the Student Representative Council and Year 12 Prefect. Additionally, this year he also leads the Senior Concert Band and contributes to the music programme at Immanuel, working with the boarding and scholarship student bodies. He has been a leader within the school’s Model United Nations Club since 2019, working to develop content and activities for its members.

This year Ilya also coordinated the Stand with Ukraine charity concert in April, raising over $70 000 to help both newly arrived Ukrainians in Adelaide and to provide humanitarian aid to those in Ukraine. Not satisfied with this extraordinary effort, he organised a second concert on October 8 at Her Majesty’s Theatre raising a further $125 000 in cash and donations.

Ilya’s outstanding commitment and principled actions make him a worthy recipient of his Student Citizenship Award.
