Apply for an Immanuel College Scholarship commencing in 2024.

We offer:
Academic Scholarships for new students commencing in Year 7 or Year 10,
Academic Scholarships for current Immanuel College students for Year 10,
Music Scholarships for new students commencing in Year 7, 8, 9, 10 or 11,
Boarding Scholarships for new & continuing students commencing in Year 9 or 10,
Maitland Lutheran Scholarship for a new student commencing in Year 10.

In addition, Indigenous Youth Leadership Scholarships for Immanuel College are offered through the Smith Family.

Academic Scholarships: Year 7Learn More

Academic Scholarships: Year 7

Scholarships for study for new students commencing in Year 7 in 2024 at Immanuel College are now open.

These scholarships are based on the results of an examination conducted through ACER and held at Immanuel College and are tenable for 6 years.

Scholarships available:  Full or Partial Scholarships

Closing date: 11.30 pm CDT Thursday 19 January 2023

Date of Examination: Saturday 4 February 2023, 8:45 am to 12:15 pm approximately.

Please note: If applying for more than one school for an Academic Scholarship, parents are advised to establish a firm order of preference before completing the preference list of schools on the Registration Page. A separate Registration is required for each school applied and you must list the schools in the same order of preference on every Registration as this is a cooperative scholarship.

Academic Scholarships: Year 10

Academic Scholarship applications for new students commencing in Year 10, 2024 at Immanuel College are now open.

Current Immanuel College students are also eligible to register for the Year 10 2024 Academic Scholarship.

Scholarships are based on the results of an examination conducted through ACER held at Immanuel College and will be tenable for 3 years.

Scholarships available: Partial Scholarships

Closing date: 2 February 2023

Date of examination:  

  • Saturday 25 February 2023 for non-Immanuel College students, followed by an interview in the afternoon.
  • Monday 27 February 2023 for current Immanuel College students. 

Time: 8.45 am – 12 noon approximately (with interviews for applicants new to Immanuel College on Saturday afternoon).

Entrance fee: $120

Boarding Scholarships

Boarding Scholarship applications for new students to Immanuel College or for current Boarding students for study in Year 9 or Year 10 2024 are now open.

Scholarships are based on the results of an examination conducted through ACER and will be tenable for either 3 or 4 years (depending on the year of entry). An interview for new students to Immanuel College will be held at the College on their scholarship examination day.

Scholarships available: Partial Scholarships

Closing date: 2 February 2023

Date of examination:  

  • Saturday 25 February 2023 for non-Immanuel College students.
  • Monday 27 February 2023 for current Immanuel College students.

Music Scholarships

Applications for Immanuel College Music Scholarships for 2024 are now open.

Immanuel College has a highly regarded music program consisting of practical and theoretical studies, and numerous extra-curricular ensembles encompassing strings, woodwind, brass, percussion and voice.

Immanuel College is pleased to be able to offer a number of Music Scholarships for new students to Immanuel College commencing in Years 7, 8, 9, 10 or 11 in 2024 who demonstrate outstanding music skills and/or potential in VIOLIN, VIOLA, CELLO, DOUBLE BASS, BRASS, WOODWIND, PERCUSSION, GUITAR, PIANO or VOICE.

There is no minimum performance standard for entry. Immanuel College is keen to provide an opportunity for students who may not have completed practical exams and who display great potential at a young age. Some theoretical background would be an advantage but is not a pre-requisite.

Value: Awarding a scholarship provides a percentage reduction of tuition fees for the duration of the student’s enrolment, subject to satisfactory progress each year.

String Scholarships: 

Scholarships will be offered to students who demonstrate outstanding musical skills and/or potential on either VIOLIN, VIOLA, CELLO or DOUBLE BASS.

General Music Scholarships: 

Scholarships will be offered to students demonstrating outstanding musical skills and/or potential in the area of BRASS, WOODWIND, PERCUSSION, GUITAR, PIANO or VOICE.

Application Process:

  • Candidates should complete the Music Scholarship Application Form and return it to Immanuel College with supporting items (see below for details).
  • A shortlist will be compiled immediately following the closing date and applicants will be allocated an audition time at a date to be advised.
  • Candidates invited to audition will be asked to perform on their instrument(s). The pieces selected should reflect the range of their abilities.
  • All applicants will be advised in due course of the outcome of their applications.

Application Fee: An application fee of $30 should accompany the Application Form.

  • Two written references – one from the current music teacher
  • Video recording of one audition piece (if submitting electronically, for files larger than 1MB please provide via a private file sharing link (eg DropBox, SendSpace etc) or if submitting in hard copy on USB, CD or DVD)
  • Portfolio of achievements
  • Current school photograph
  • Copy of Term 2 or end-of-year school report
  • Application fee of $30.

Auditions

Following the closing date, a shortlist will be compiled and selected applicants will then be contacted by phone to be allocated an audition time. Auditions will be held in the Immanuel College Music Centre early in Term 1, 2023.

Accompanist

Applicants are encouraged to perform with their own accompanist if they have previously rehearsed the audition pieces.

If a regular accompanist is not available at the time of the audition, one of the Immanuel Music staff will be available and can rehearse with the student on the day. Please indicate as soon as possible if this is required and be able to supply a copy of the accompaniment music well in advance of the audition time in the correct key and clearly indicate repeats etc.

If a student has never played with an accompanist, it is quite acceptable to perform unaccompanied.

Audition Requirements

Applicants selected for an audition will be required to perform two contrasting pieces on their principal instrument. The pieces selected should reflect the range of the student’s abilities. Appropriate sight-reading and aural skills may also be assessed at the audition.

Maitland Lutheran Scholarship

Applications for the Immanuel College/Maitland Lutheran School Scholarship for Year 10 2024 at Immanuel College are now open.

Eligibility:
A Year 9 2023 rural student who has attended Maitland Lutheran School and who is not a current Immanuel College student.

Tenure:
For 3 years through to the completion of Year 12. Overall performance in each year will be monitored and form the basis for a recommendation from the Principal for the continuance of the scholarship for subsequent years.

Value: 35% remission on both tuition and boarding fees to Year 12.

Criteria:

  • A Christian student who is from a rural area and who is not a current Immanuel College student
  • Academic and extra-curricular performance within the school environment
  • Involvement in community activities
  • Immanuel College Year 10 Academic Scholarship examination results and interview assessment and documentation as requested for Year 10 Academic Scholarship registration.

Scholarships available:
One scholarship for a maximum of 3 years.

Indigenous Youth Leadership Program ScholarshipLearn More

Indigenous Youth Leadership Program (IYLP)

Working in partnership with Immanuel College, the IYLP is run by The Smith Family, with funding support through the National Indigenous Australians Agency. The Government-funded program aims to close the gaps in Indigenous educational disadvantage by creating greater access to additional education choices for Indigenous students, particularly those from remote and very remote areas of the country. In addition to helping Indigenous students achieve their educational aspirations, the IYLP supports the development of positive role models and leaders to inspire other Indigenous students.

2023 IYLP Scholarships are now closed.

APPLICATION PROCESS
  • Applications for 2024 entry will open in March 2023.
  • Shortlisted students will be required to attend a personal interview at Immanuel College with the IYLP Manager, Leanne Smith, and a representative of Immanuel College.
  • Information, criteria, application forms and other details are available from The Smith Family via the 2024 IYLP Application Kit when it is available.
